What causes adult onset acne?

Hi guys. I%26#039;m 26 years old, and I%26#039;ve always always had really clear skin, even when I was a teenager. I used to get 1 zit every few months. 2 months ago I moved to another state and my face has been breaking out like crazy since then. I%26#039;ve tried changing my skin care (although Im still using the same basic face wash and moisturizer I%26#039;ve been using since I was 16) but I%26#039;ve added a daily scrub, a toner and sometimes I use the acne overnight thing but it just makes my face red and dry. I have dry skin and this just looks awful. Is it something to do with the move? A change in water or somtehing? Shouldn%26#039;t my skin be used to it by now? My older sister has always had acne, but her face was doing much better till we moved here. How do I fix this?!

Thanks!|||It%26#039;s possible that the change in weather and air could have an effect. There are other factors that could be considered such as a change in diet - have you started eating unhealthily or dropped a food component? There is also a chance that it may be stress related and the move will have affected you in ways you may not realise. I certainly used to get more spots at times of axnt - such as exams etc.

Your skin probably will adapt over time but you may have to go through a %26#039;settling down%26#039; period.|||You are not having acne. You need not use scrub, anti acne medicines.Use moisturizers, and mild steroid cream for a week.|||Hi there. Acne is not caused by the change in weather, the foods you eat, how much you wash, etc. but rather caused by an imbalance in hormones. I suggest to avoid using a scrub as it can be too exfoliating and harsh on your acne prone skin along with spreading acne. My recommendation would be to use a natural balancer along with pure products specifically formulated for your skin condition. Arbonne has a Clear Advantage line for acne that consists of a dietary supplement to help with acne from the inside out along with a wash, toner, and moisturizer. All of Arbonne%26#039;s products are pure, safe, beneficial, result oriented, and do not contain ingredients such as alcohol, chemicals, mineral oil, acetone, etc. They also contain nanosphere technology which helps the products adjust to your specific skin type to help even out your skin tone. To learn more, you can click on my profile and visit my website. If you have any questions, I%26#039;ll be happy to help you.|||generally, hormonal fluctuation, dietary habits....|||I%26#039;d disagree with anyone who tells you it is food (it really doesn%26#039;t help when people put out that myth, because a pimply kid who eats healthy may find their acne does not go away - leading to dismay when they expected a change in diet would cure the condition).

Is the new place more polluted?

I think pollution in the air could do it.

Maybe your skin is later to mature than most?

i%26#039;d agree about stress causing acne. Moving is a very stressful thing to do. Perhaps if you have not moved places before, it is even more stressful. Perhaps it would then settle down eventually once you are all settled in.

It might also possibly be some other skin condition that resembles acne perhaps.

Might be worth seeing a doctor / gp as dioxin can poison someone and cause some bad things like acne to appear on the face.

THere are some great new medicines for acne you might be able to get if you see a doctor.|||unhealthy skin is due abnormal keratinization this is due to vitamin A deficiency.

the abnormal keratinization leads to closure of the opening of the sebaceous(fat secreting) glands which leads to acne.

you can use a face cream containing retinoic acid(tretinoin),

or tablets containing etretinate or isotretinoin.

all these substances are vit-A derivatives|||Could be the move.....You were used to the water that you used at the old location....now you have moved this could be hard water or something to that effect. Also change in climate....that could be a factor....you have to remember you were in one place and left and moved somewhere else....so take those things into consideration....

I would go see a doct and get some help!

Has anyone tried Juice Plus+ for adult acne? ?

I had a friend or an acquaintance really, who had horrible acne, and I saw her recently and her skin is perfectly clear and smooth. She said Juice Plus+ has cleared it up. Does anyone know more information on Juice Plus+? I%26#039;m considering giving it a shot, I%26#039;ve been using Retin A Micro for 9 weeks, and my skin is alright, but I still have zits and pimples. Thanks,|||I have looked at Juice Plus+ before and it%26#039;s simply just a good combination of juices and nutrients. However, the experience your friend/acquaintance had would be because her body needed those nutrients, although yours may not be the same. The major problem with nutrition is that different people%26#039;s bodies respond differently to different nutrition and food because each one needs different nutrients overall. That%26#039;s why different supplements and nutritional aids (like Juice Plus) work differently for different people.

That being said, it is very good for overall good health and it can help to keep your body working properly. In the case of your acquaintance, her body working properly took care of her acne. In your case, the acne could be based on hormones, cleanliness, nutrition (or lack thereof), etc... without knowing what your body is lacking, it%26#039;s hard to know if this will help your acne, but it definitely will help to keep you healthy. Good luck!|||I use it in my practice to help my patients fill in the nutritional gaps of their diet. Everyone can benefit by improving their nutritional status; however, nobody can predict what that will mean for each individual. If you have acne, there are likely many aspects of your lifestyle that could be cleaned up to help you reach a specific health goal.

Juice Plus can play a part in getting you the results that you are looking for. It is a very good product with a lot of research behind it.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

|||I%26#039;ve heard good things about Juice Plus, though, I%26#039;ve never used it... But, in order for anything to work you MUST understand that acne can be the result of a couple of things: 1.) hormone unbalancement 2.) toxins 3.) food allergies 4.) stress. And, that you MUST cut out all fried foods %26amp; sugar.

I%26#039;ve had good luck with Evening Primrose, but as with any herb you must take it for a couple of months before you will see best results.

Good luck.|||i have not heard about juice plus+

however my gf used to have extreemly bad acne and she used Proactiv and cleared it right up.

the only drawback is that as soon as she stops the acne comes right back.

i would suggest changing diet first.

Has anyone ever used Acnezine (formerly called Acuzine) for adult acne, and has it worked?

Do not use Acuzine! It%26#039;ll make your acne worse. Try Salicylic or Glycolic peels, they%26#039;ll dry out the acne that you have now and prevent new ones from forming. www.platinumskincare.com. This is where I get my peels from. As for Acnezine, it sucks cause I was so stupid and ordered 6 months of the product and only used two months but the company won%26#039;t even let me return the 4 bottles that I have left. DO NOT TRY ACNEZINE!!! Please trust me on this.|||Hi. Acnezine can cause some serious side effects. You should try using a topical treatment. You can find more info on http://www.acnetreatmentsreviewed.com|||You still get acne as an adult??!!!!!!!!!! Damn....I thought all that would end when you get out of your teenage years!!!!

Which is better? Loreal Adult Acne Regimen or Mary Kay?

Ok. I am 26 and i am breaking out with Acne. I hear that Loreal Adult Regimen is good and that Loreal Adult Acne peel is as well. I also hear that Mary Kay is good. Which is better? Which is quicker?|||I am not sure what exactly the Loreal treatments do, but I do know that Mary Kay has had the number one brand of skin care for the past 12 out of 13 years. There are a few different formulas that you can choose from, depending on your skin type and it is always nice to have a consultant to talk to rather than just picking something up at the drugstore and not being sure if it will work or not.

Mary Kay has an awesome Acne Treatment gel that you can purchase for $7 and it clears blemishes up in about 3 days, when applied morning and night!

There is also a Blemish control toner, that works wonders!

I would suggest Mary Kay, because you can try the products before you buy them. If you do purchase the product and end up not liking it, there is a full refund process. I haven%26#039;t heard of any drugstores that do this!

If you go to Marykay.com, you can find a beauty consultant in your area.|||Acne Complex is the best than the both

http://www.askaquery.com/Answers/qn1548.鈥?/a>|||this is the best anti acne treatment EVER!!!

http://www.colormebeautiful.com/revoluti鈥?/a>|||I%26#039;m not familiar with the Loreal, but I can give you a regimen using Mary Kay products. You%26#039;ll see results within a couple of days. Send me an email if you%26#039;re interested anderson_daryn@yahoo.com|||Different products work differently for each individual. Your best bet is just to choose ONE, try it for a few weeks, and go from there. I haven%26#039;t tried Loreal, but use the MK %26quot;miracle set%26quot;.|||loreal|||L%26#039;Oreal has gotten much better impartial reviews than Mary Kay.

However, there are a lot of people on here trying to sell Mary Kay so you%26#039;ll hear lots of good things about that.

Does pregnancy sometimes spur adult acne?

Yes! For me, I battle with it more when I am not pregnant, then it clears up when I am. The surgence of hormones changes the way your skin feels, not just on your face.

I use Murad products to keep my acne in check. There are several facial products out there that you shouldnt use when pregnant, because it gets into your bloodstream through your pours, so be sure to check with your doctor if you are using harsh acne products.|||Oh you bet. I have acne throughout my pregnancies. But thankfully clear skin returns after my babies come.|||I am living proof that it does. I never had anything other than an occassional pimple as a teenager, and at 28 when I had my first child I started having acne---and now 7 year later am still dealing with it. The pill has helped it, but hasn%26#039;t solved the problem completely.|||Yes, but sometimes it might clear skin up too. Those hormones can do ANYTHING!|||oh my goodness, yes! and it%26#039;s awful. I used to have clear pretty skin until I got pregnant with my daughter. Now I fight with it every day. My ob told me I could use proactive once or twice a week and it would be safe, but it seems like if you dont use it daily, then it really dosnt work. This is my first baby, but ive heard that after the pregnancy is over that your skin will clear up. So hopefuly this is true!!! It%26#039;s one of the worse things in pregnancy. At least for me it has been. Good luck to you!|||oh yeah....its because of hormones!|||yes it does

How can i hide adult acne?

estee lauder double wear..even mix it with oil free moisturizer or water ( i mix with water) cuz its so great , its actually too good (thick extra coverage) but dont worry its oil free!|||TRY BARE MINERALS! i LOVE THIS MAKEUP! iTS SO PURE THAT U CAN SLEEP IN IT! pLUS IT WON%26#039;T AGGRIVATE YOUR SKIN! Report Abuse
|||Personally I would recommend Neutrogena cosmetics that are formulated for problem skin, Maybelene PURE, or the MARK line (made for the teen girl%26#039;s problematic skin). Invest in a concealer that will fight acne as you wear it throughout the day and be careful not to wear other pore cloging products that will allow for more acne.

Also be sure to wash it all away before bed, and to allow your face at LEAST one day a week to breathe without makeup.

If you have oily skin and nothing seems to work (and you don%26#039;t have the funds to use ProActive, or you have and that doesn%26#039;t work) I reccomend the Bior茅庐 Pore Perfect product line along with Bior茅庐 Shine Control.|||Wear a mask!!|||You%26#039;ll want to use a better cleanser and moisterizer to get rid of it. But when they do show up try a facial highlighting pen or concealer. Mary Kay has amazing stuff that will help you out... Try Time Wise Miracle Set and either a facial highlighting pen or concealer.|||It%26#039;s kind of impossible to hide. I have it too, mostly flares up before my monthly cycle. But, there%26#039;s always a few here and there. Anti-bacterial soap and scrubbing with a clean washcloth really help. You can try to hide it with a good concealer make-up and powder. But, when I do, it usually makes me break-out worse later. It%26#039;s a vicious circle. Best of luck to us and anyone else with this problem.|||sorry... don%26#039;t want to retype this all, so here%26#039;s a copy and paste from a similar question i just answered:

first off, if you want to cover acne, foundation isn%26#039;t going to be a lot of help, though it is a start:

first figure out if you%26#039;re more warm or cool... don%26#039;t look at your face to test this, look at your neck or forehead. is it more yellowy (warm) or pinkish (cool)? try to find somewhere you can test foundations before buying it... to test, run a bit along a clean jawline and smudge it in... if it disappears, you%26#039;ve got it.

now, to cover the acne. first off, you need a CORRECTOR. since most acne is red, you%26#039;ll want a green one. you can get these just about anywhere. I know it seems funny to put green on your face, but if you%26#039;ve ever seen a colour wheel, green neutralizes red, turning it brownish. so put on the green to cover the red, then a concealer (your correcter may come with some?) over top of it to correct the colour.

also: for foundations! there%26#039;s a lot of kinds out there: liquid, powders, creams, tinted moisturizers. if your skin is really muddled and blemished with red spots, use a cream, it%26#039;ll be thicker and give you more coverage. also, if you have a good week and don%26#039;t need so much coverage, you can add moisturizer to sheer it down.

if you put the foundation on before the corrector, it%26#039;ll cover a lot of the minor blemishes and it%26#039;ll save you a lot of correcter, time, and effort

additional comment to some of the other posters: wearing makeup shouldn%26#039;t be clogging your pores and making it worse unless you%26#039;re not cleansing! there%26#039;s FIVE steps to skin care!

Cleanse! (for your oilier skin, you%26#039;ll want a gel as opposed to a cream. and definately not a bar soap, as they%26#039;re too harsh)

Stimulate! this is exfoliating and getting the blood flowing, which will help your skin regeneration and with sloughing of the dead skin. try a scrub with the little beads, or a mask, or AHAs...

Remove residue: astringents, toners, refreshiners... a lot of these can be acne medications too, and they%26#039;ll get rid of any exfoliant, and all the bad crap in the tap water that%26#039;ll hurt your skin.

Moisturize: self explainatory :P a lot of that may have zapped the moisture from your skin, you want to balance it back out.

and PROTECT! even if you don%26#039;t wear foundation, wear an SPF! Something to protect your skin from UV and pollution... wearing nothing on your skin can actually be worse than wearing foundation.

It seems like a lot, but once you%26#039;ve gotten in the habit (4 or 5 days?), it takes 5 minutes to run through it all, and your skin will look a thousand times better.|||use proactive or where a lot of makeup|||Well, you could either put on foundation(which I don%26#039;t know if that will totally work) or you could use some facial cleaning products.|||try special med|||grow a beard. oops maybe that won%26#039;t work for u.

What z the best product for adult acne? i've never had it b4. and it's driving me nuts.?

for me proactive didn%26#039;t work|||Acne Free you can get it from walmart or target.|||Have a little read of this first to give you some info on it.

I had a friend who had very bad acne and clearasil cleared it in weeks. My son had bad acne at 15 and he used Roacuttane which must be prescribed and is not suitable for everyone patricularly sensitive individuals. It took a year but the results were great.|||Proactive really does work. I tried EVERYTHING trust me EVERYTHING put off trying proactive cause I didn%26#039;t have the money finaly broke down and bought it and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. It%26#039;s not that much like 50.00 bucks every 2 months.|||I just use natural soap and witch hazel. The chemicals in the conventional products are just too risky. I%26#039;d rather deal with a few pimples now than have to get skin cancer scraped off later on. Skin cancer rates have doubled in teh last 30 years, and are continuing to rise. I think I%26#039;ll listen to the scientists and avoid the chemicals.
