What are some causes of adult acne?

I%26#039;ve had pimples since the age of 14. When I was a teenager I expected them but now that I%26#039;m 25 and I still have pimples it%26#039;s kind of embarrassing. I normally have at least 5 on my face at all times and now more than ever I really think it%26#039;s holding me back in the job market. I went to a few dermatologists and they prescribes creams and things for it but nothing ever seems to work. I don%26#039;t have the money to go to the doctor now since I%26#039;m out of a job, but I%26#039;m looking for other answers.

Can the foods I eat be making my face the way it is? Because I notice when I eat things with butter or grease in them I feel my face oilier than normal.|||try drinking more water. in my nutrition class the other day my teacher told us that foods don%26#039;t really affect acne, or at least they haven%26#039;t found any studies that prove that. she said dehyrdration might be a problem.|||We are in the same boat...... I too am 25 and suffer with acne, I also went to dermatalogists for creams and antiobiotics but nothing worked. I even would switch doctors to try to get a different remedy but nope nothing worked. The pills would work while I was taking them but once I stopped my pimples came back. This is what I have been doing myself without the help of a doctor.

This may take trial and error on your part until you find the products that work for your skin and skin type.

Always wash your face 2 times a day (morning and night).

Use a face wash (not necessarily for acne because that type makes my skin so dry)

Use a astringet after you wash face. (I use witch hazel)

Then apply a acne cream to breakouts (Any Walmart just look around)

Then I apply a moistoriser (I use cetraphll)

Once every 2 weeks I hot steam face with water to open pores to give my skin a deep cleaning and I follow the steps above, followed by using a cold piece of ice to close pores once I clean face.

Lastly, yes stay away from greasy and sugary foods. Those are my worse enemies!!!!!! Drink plenty of water throughout the day to flush the toxins from your body. Make sure you stay consistent with the regimen because it sounds like you have acne prone skin. Hope I helped!

How to clear up stubborn adult acne?

So, i had pretty bad acne since I was about 12. When I turned 21, it cleared up pretty well, with mild breakouts only right around my period. Well, I%26#039;m 24 now and for the last 6 months or so, I%26#039;ve had horrible acne that doesn%26#039;t clear up, EVER! It%26#039;s a lot of little pimples all over, with blackheads near my nose and chin. Would something like proactiv help? I%26#039;ve tried topical benzoyl peroxide and salacyllic acid, but nothing seems to help. Please help!!

P.S. This problem seemed to occur right after a finished a z-pack of antibiotics about 6 months ago that I took for strep throat. Could this be a side effect????|||The main ingredient in Proactiv is benzoyl peroxide. The toner is witch hazel, and the moisturizer is just moisturizer.

The reason that the product seems to work so well is because it helps people get into a skincare routine where they wash their face with a cleanser specifically for the face not the body, apply the benzoyl peroxide which is really just an antibacterial, and apply moisturizer because bp can dry out your skin.

If you don%26#039;t have a routine and these main products don%26#039;t work for you then see a dermatologist and get an oral product.

I need a womens advice! Adult Acne?!?

Well I have asked and I%26#039;m not getting the answers I need. I am 21 years old and I have never had acne up until last year. Now its not horrobile but its still there. I have tried a number of different acne medications (about 6) and have seen more than one dermatologist. I haven%26#039;t been eating any differently than I have my enitre life! I have cut greasy foods and caffine out of my daily in take, if I do have the two its probably about twice a month. NOTHING IS WORKING! I have come to the conclusion that it has to do with my hormones. So today I was given YAZ, I have not began taking it yet. Is there any females that have gone through something similar? Will YAZ help? Am I doing something wrong?|||I don%26#039;t know about Yaz, as I%26#039;ve never been on that. But I asked this question a few months ago and someone recommended Queen Helen Mask (Sally%26#039;s beauty). I use it about 2 times a week and WOW---I haven%26#039;t had a zit since.

Cheap and worth a shot!|||Although YAZ has been approved to market their birth control pill as an %26quot;acne fighter%26quot;, MOST if not all birth control pills help with acne. Acne is mostly hormonal so I would start taking the YAZ immediately. Drinking lots of water and cleaning your face correctly twice a day will help as well. Also purchase the ZENO machine. I bought one a long time before it was popular and it works great to eliminate acne that is just appearing on the skin. Good luck.|||Drink lots of water, make sure your not dehydrating this will help your skin, theres my favorit olay rejuvinating balance, and that will help you alot with not worrying about dry and oilie skin. and putting back natural balance for the while your body and hormoine is changing more into a women.

There%26#039;s also ways for the pimples you have now. to dry thing own use tooth paste at night. to get ride of the redness and swollen take a hot And i mean hot washcloth put it directly on the infected area and keep it there until the swallen goes down it does sting becuase you cleaning out your bacteria and your opening up your poors, soak in the steam for awhile to. that will help you out alot. and this is simple nothing dramamtic and less makup during this time otherwise your infecting it more. and dont pop that spreads causes scars and its bad. good luck feel beautiful.|||Yaz is supposed to help with your hormones, which can cause acne. I was on the original, Yasmine, and i loved it. It helped me with my weight and acne. I heard YAZ is supposed to be even better. Good Luck!|||I%26#039;ll tell you, your diet has nothing to do with acne. This happened to me, except I was younger. I had perfectly clear skin, and then when I turned 12, I just got acne. Take care of it now, cause it%26#039;ll get worse as the years go on. I used to only have on my cheeks, and now I have it on my chin and forehead too. Exercise and water helps a ton. =]

I have a problem with adult acne and never had a problem as a teen. Any suggestions?

I am a 21 year old female and I am having terrible problems with acne. I never had problems with acne as a teenager. I have been on birth control for about two years and I have been put on the best kind for controlling acne. I have a serious breakout right now. My dermatologist put me on Differin gel but it really has only made my skin worse. I normally have combination skin so therefore I can%26#039;t really put a lot of moisturizers on it. I live in the South and the recent change in the weather and the drop in the humidity might have something to do with it. I say this because I went to Montana last year and the mountain air made my skin all messed up too. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to control things? Does the Differin gel use ever make things better after a while?|||you can get stuff over the counter for that

see you pharmacist|||There are various (sometimes too many!) causes of acne/pimples.

If due to hormonal causes, there%26#039;s really nothing much you can do except to wait it out. Of course if it%26#039;s too serious then you may need medical intervention...antibiotics, Roaccutane creams etc...

Proper cleansing is necessary, but twice a day is enough. Too much washing can also cause further weakening of the skin%26#039;s barrier function. Select a gentle surfactant-based cleansing gel (e.g. Cetaphil). Soap/soap bars clean very well but are too alkaline and harsh.

You may try Neem natural herbal extract (available as capsules). Neem is known for its blood cleansing properties. Of course drink lots of water daily. Have enough sleep every night. These are the best %26quot;natural%26quot; remedies :))

One most important point though - Keep your fingers off your face! Most transmission of bacteria occurs that way.

Anyway just to let you know you are not alone... So when I follow my own advices above, and still get pimples, then I like to blame it on HORMONES!!

Cheers! :))

|||wash your face 3x a time with antibacterial soap, use some over the counter meds for the acne and make sure not go to bed with makeup on. good luck|||well, i think what you need is to clean out the oil and dead skin cells, which are what acne is. try using a little bit of cleanser, the weak ones without alcohol. Try just a bit on parts of your face, and see if they acne reduces. try it for about 2 or 3 days, if it does, then continue. but be mindful that overuse of cleanser can dry out your skin and can cause even worse outbreaks.

How can I cure my adult acne?

I%26#039;m 20 years old and suffer from mild adult acne. I have combination skin with an extremely oily t-zone. I have clogged blackheads, whiteheads and a several pimples. Even though I cleanse, tone, and moisturize 2x a day it doesn%26#039;t make any difference. I don%26#039;t wear heavy makeup, I wear neutrogena skin clearing foundation on days when I need coverage. I never fall asleep w/ makeup on. I change my pillow sheets 2x a week %26amp; never ever touch my face. I don%26#039;t eat very healthy or exercise or drink that much water. I%26#039;ve tried every single product that I can think of and none work for me, I%26#039;m also allergic to benzoyl peroxide. These are the products I%26#039;ve used: Numerous Clean %26amp; Clear products, Oxy Pads, Clearasil, Astringments, Numerous Neutrogena facial cleansers, Tea tree oil(just about anything I could find at a drugstore). I%26#039;ve even tried Proactive and Skin I.D. Both of these products didn%26#039;t work and I got an allergic reaction from the benzoyl in them. I%26#039;ve even gone a couple months without wearing makeup just to see if my acne would clear up. I have a very stressful job that never gets any easier. I know that these are all very important factors for good skin. I really feel like there is no hope and that I will always have acne. I feel very embarrased and lack self esteem. When I break out I don%26#039;t want to be seen by anyone. I actually do cry sometimes because I wonder what I%26#039;m doing wrong and I don%26#039;t feel it%26#039;s fair that I try so hard and there%26#039;s very little effectiveness. My acne clears up sometimes but soon enough there%26#039;s new blemishes. I%26#039;m at my wits end, someone help me, only serious answers. 10 points to whoever is the most informative and can help me out. Thanx.|||Here is a site with great home remedies for curing acne and black head. I had the same problem wil I started using these.

How to get rid of adult acne?? HELP!!!!!?

i am a 22 year old female.. i have NEVER had a breakout before never had acne as a teen.. now all of a sudden when i hit my 20s i have horrid acne!!! my face is scared up and discolored from it... i used to have a beautiful complextion, always got compliments on it..

i have tried everything!!! proactive, clean and clear, etc. nothing works! i have changed my make-up hair styles/color, etc

I am about to cry...

does any one know WHAT will work??? help please!|||I%26#039;m 14 and used to have terrible acne so our situations may be a little different. I would suggest visiting the dermatologist, since everyone%26#039;s skin is different. Proactive and Clean and Clear may work for some people, but it%26#039;s not for everyone. Believe me when I say that I tried every home remedy and OTC product known to man, and every thing i tried only made my acne worse. From my experiences, I learned that less is more. The more you try to do to your face and experiment with, the worse your acne may become. My dermatologist prescribed me a cream called Duac, which started to improve my skin after only a week or so and worked wonders with a little more time. Here is a regimen that I use and is easy to follow and (hopefully) delivers great results.

1) In the morning, rinse your face with warm water (don%26#039;t scrub) and then apply a thin layer of the Duac (or another cream that you choose to use).

2) During the day, make a conscience effort to drink 8 glasses of water and stay away from fired, fatty foods. Also incorporate enough fruit and fiber into your diet. This will help clear your acne from the inside out.

3) Avoid touching your face and popping the zits. This will only spread the bacteria and make your acne worse. When possible, keep your hair completely out of your face and avoid using hair products, like hairspray, which can get on your skin and clog your pores.

4) At night, rinse your face again and apply another thin layer of the Duac/cream of your choice. Beware that if choosing to use the Duac, it bleaches dyed fabric, so I%26#039;d purchase 2 or 3 white pillowcases and washcloths.

5) I%26#039;d use a moisturizer for combination skin (I like the Neutrogena moisturizers) at night on top top of the cream, since dry skin facilitates the growth and spread of bacteria. I%26#039;d also change your pillowcase every other night.

My last bit of advice is to stop stressing out about your skin. It is actually proven that stress causes acne to flare up. When I had terrible skin, I would notice that stressing out over my skin would just cause new pimples to appear in the morning. Trust me, when I was younger, I thought I would NEVER have the beautiful skin I%26#039;d always wanted. I tried everything, and just became more disappointed when nothing I tried worked. But, with a visit to the dermatologist, an easy skin care regimen, and a positive attitude, I now have the beautiful skin I always dreamed of having and couldn%26#039;t be more happy with my appearance!

(And, like I said, I know we%26#039;re different ages, but acne is acne no matter how young or old you are!)

Hope I helped!|||I used the nuetrogena kit, it comes with cleanser and two types of lotion, one for daytime use and one without SPFxx and with 2% benzoil peroxide which kicks ***. Costs like 20 bux at walmart. Be careful with a lot of these acne medicines they dry out your face too much and make it worse. You may need to go to a dermatologist.|||Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated. About 2 liter of water a day of 8 cups. Wash your pillowcase every 1 or 2 weeks. Try to avoid greecy foods like fast food, french fries, and all of that. Take a multivitamin everyday to make sure your skin is healthy. Don%26#039;t overwash your face or else you will be irritating it. Once and|||proactiv

Here are some real answers on skin conditions. Remedies at the bottom. Cleansing the body of toxins is the key. Especially a colon cleanse! Educate yourself on detoxifying the blood and removing excess waste in the body.

Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman N.D. - %26quot;What is your skin trying to tell you? Often the skin is a metaphor for deeper issues and a way for your body to send up a red flag to warn you that all is not well underneath. When our skin is unhealthy it is usually a reflection of the internal state of our bodies, and is often a sign of poor elimination of toxins and waste products. Most of us are embarrassed by skin problems such as rashes, rosacea, boils or acne, especially in places where others can see our imperfections. The skin is the body%26#039;s first line of defense against the environment. It has to deal with the effects of weather, sun , cold, heat, dryness, humidity, scrapes, bumps, soaps, detergents, chemicals, perspiration and dirt of all kinds. It is a wonder that our skin stays healthy most of the time! We can help our skin deal with this onslaught by optimizing our general health and by protecting our skin from harsh environmental exposure. Western medicine generally treats skin eruptions with either antibiotics, cortisone, or antifungal preparations. These medicines may alleviate the skin problem temporarily, or occasionally for good, but do not address the source of the problem. Putting a lid on skin symptoms without getting to the root of the imbalance may even result in suppression, that means the imbalance may be driven deeper causing more serious health problems later without ever strengthening the underlying vital force of the person. Fortunately, naturopathic medicine offers a wide vareity of effective treatments for skin problems.%26quot;

Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman N.D. - %26quot;Your skin is a reflection of how well your body is eliminating the toxins that build up on a daily basis. Chronic skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis stem from a combination of genetic factors, immune stress, dietary deficiencies or sensitivities, and the accumulation of toxins in the body. For our skin to be radiant and clear, it is very important that the other organs of elimination (kidneys, liver, lungs, and colon) are cleansing the body effectively. If not, the skin will be overtaxed, pores will become clogged, and eruptions of one sort or another will result. Here are a number of steps you can take to improve your body%26#039;s overall elimination wtih specific emphasis on your skin.%26quot;

Detoxification is a normal body process of eliminating or neutralizing toxins through the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph and skin. Juice Fasting is the world%26#039;s most ancient and natural healing mechanism. Fasting triggers a truly wondrous cleansing process that reaches right down to each and every cell and tissue in the body.

Learn more about Therapeutic Fasting and Detoxification - Colon Cleansing is the main step. Must remove the toxins from the colon, so the toxins dont get in the blood and cause illness and disease.

Natural Cures

1. Fruits and Vegetables for Acne: Carrot %26amp; spinach, celery %26amp; watercress, grapefruit juices are all useful to combat acne.

2. Unwholesome Foods: Acne, a prevalent problem among teen-aged boys would not be possible in our society if our foods were wholesome. A most sad and disgusting sight is the pus-filled pimples due to inner toxicity --- wastes trying desperately to escape through the face. This condition often turns a gentle face in the blossom of youth into a waste dump of pimples, pus and subsequent pock marks which can be prevented. The tons of acne medications and prescriptions sold annually act only on the effect of the harmful food, and not the cause of the disease, malnutrition. The traditional teenage meal, a grease burger, french fries and a milk shake or cola simply does not provide enough nourishment for anyone, let alone a boy going through puberty to adulthood. Our highly processed foods are devoid of hormones found in fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds. Must do a colon cleanse to rid of all the toxins in the body, which eventually get into the blood and cause acne and all other diseases.

3. Cabbage: Apply a lotion of freshly prepared cabbage juice preceded, if desired, by the application of leaves. The eating of cabbage leaves or juice is also helpful.

4. Lemon Juice: Skin problems such as acne... will often respond to a treatment of lemon juice. For blackheads rub lemon juice over them each night.

5. Black Walnut: Externally, Black Walnut is nearly a miracle worker in cases of ...acne, dandruff, boils, itch, shingles, ringworm--we could go on, but you can see that you can use Black Walnut whenever a skin disorder appears! The tincture is an excellent first-aid remedy for wounds.

Best of health to you|||Acne is caused by the staph bacteria coming to fight off the dirt and oil clogging the pores. Antibiotics are what is needed to get the staph bacteria under control. The main reason not to pop the pimples is because that spreads that staph bacteria all over your face. Staph as you know is contagious so why spread more bacteria all over? See your doc and get on antibiotic therapy to get this under control.|||I get them around my period too, didn%26#039;t start til I turned 28.

I use Neutrogena Pore cleanser in the white squeeze bottle, everyday. A few of their cleansers have Beta Hydroxy, which is what you need. The generic is fine too.

They%26#039;ve been much better since I started using it.

Give it a try.
