What do you do with adult acne?!!?

i never had real problems with acne until i hit my 20s. i alwasy get ONE pimple on my face right before my period (along with breast tenderness) and these mofo pimples get BIG and last forever and scar. does anyone have any suggestions? i am thinking of going on birth control pills...do they really help that much with acne? any personal experiences?|||Birth control pills help out alot. I use Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel along with the pills and antibiotic ointment like Neosporin to treat my adult acne. If you%26#039;re not already washing your face regularly, washing twice a day helps out alot.|||well i am not 20 or anything but i get a lot of acne and i finally went to a dermitologist! it has helped me a lot and for the right before ur period that is nomal because i asked the doc about that. anyway proactive is good or otherwise trie the dermitologist. hope i help!|||Proactiv only contains 2% benzoyl peroxide. You should use something like Neutrogena Rapid Clear or Clean and Clear%26#039;s Persagel. They come with up to 10% benzoyl peroxide or 2% salylic acid. In my experience, birth control didn%26#039;t significantly reduce my acne.|||Proactiv and the pill, it helps a ton.|||see a dermatologist about acne, they can give you something that works for once a month or however often you need it.|||Tea Tree Oil|||Nervous and worries make things worse|||The way you%26#039;re asking this question makes me think that you only get breakouts during your period, which is normal. Before you consider birth control, why not something topical, like Proactiv?|||Having worked for a Dermatologist, I know that many adults suffer from acne.

You may benefit from topical antibiotics(i.e. topical Cleocin) and as you already mentioned...birth control pills maybe of some help.

I would suggest you see a Dermatologist, and do not squeeze, or pick your face!|||Consult a Dermatologist for proper treatment.|||you know what i know allot of people that get rid of that problem with proactive .Give it a try if you haven%26#039;t yet.|||I had the same problem until I was 32! The mild times it was 1-2 breakouts during my period. In the end, once i switched to Cetephyl to wash my face, it went away. Based on the research i did - there are 2 things that can cause the breakout - the hormones of your period (testosorone cause more oil production or sebum I think they call it) and the stickiness of your skin (on a micro-level) for it not to get trapped. I had my hormones tested and they came back normal, I switched to cetephyl and haven%26#039;t had a breakout since. good luck!

Oh BTW - it took me about 100 times of facialists telling me the breakout was hormonal before I actually started researching why I got acne with my periods - I%26#039;ve included a website to look at.|||If you have adult acne with an adult wallet, go to an adult dermatologist.|||Try ProActiv.
